Kofi Oppong - Executive Vice President


Kofi OppongKofi Oppong the Finance Director of Computer Africa Systems LTD, started this foundation with George Kissi, when Francis, a twelve-year-old boy came to his office at Computer Africa Systems LTD and said to him, "I have passed my 7th grade with second rank and want to go to the 8th Grade but as i have no means of transportation from my village my parents are withdrawing me from the school".

This incident made him think seriously and he immediately contacted Francis Parents and teacher and provided him bicycle.

Education for all continues to be an acute problem in Africa, particularly Ghana. Despite the fact that government targets were education for all by 2020, an estimated 43.4% of children over the age of three years old have never been to school and 49.9% of the adult population of 15 years or more are completely illiterate." The plight of children remains considerably worse in Ghana where drop out rates have increased in recent years.

Reducing the drop out rate from schools is a major challenge as the majority of the poor live in rural areas, where barriers to staying in school can be classified in following way.


  • Lack of schools within a distance of 1km.
  • Poor quality of existing school
  • Poor infrastructure or no building for the school, and majority of school children have no access to safe drinking Water.
  • Lack of trained teachers.

Kofi has a Masters Degree in Business Administration "MBA"  with five years experience in Internal Auditing. He was a Lecturer in the Department of Finance at JPIT Institute of Professional Studies,and a visiting lecturer in the Program of Finance at the Seneca College of Canada, Ghana branch. He also served as the country resident representative in Zimbabwe for the Institute.

In this capacity he is responsible for directing all internal control reviews and special projects in the financial, compliance, operational and information systems areas of Ujimacare Foundation. He reports all activities to the Board Chair and Board members of Ujimacare Foundation and the senior management and the Audit Committee, he works closely with the external auditors to ensure reliable audit procedures are being performed.

He also recruits and provides initial training for all professional accounting functions at Ujimacare Foundation and ensures Ujimacare Foundation's Internal Control Group is in compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS Standards).

Prior to the initiative of forming Ujimacare Foundation, he was the Finance Director of Computer African Systems, While there he was responsible for managing engagement teams which provide professional accounting, auditing and financial consulting services to clients. He was involved in the administration of Computer African Systems with duties including scheduling staff, technical training, recruiting and projecting, budgeting and monitoring results of operations.

He has specialization in Financial and SEC Reporting, Employee Benefit Plans and Internal Control Systems. He also has experience in understanding and documenting a wide variety of accounting information systems and analyzing and designing internal control systems to include both preventative and detective controls.

He is also specialized in analysis of strategic business objectives and processes; preparation, review and analysis of financial statements; review and assessment of effectiveness and reliability of internal control systems; review and evaluation of credit control policies and procedures and review of risk management processes and procedures.
